A Ghost Town

After preschool today, Daddy called and said he had a few free minutes, so we met him on post at the park. As Mommy drove us around post, we noticed what a ghost town Fort Bragg has become. We drive on post all the time, almost everyday, and it's becoming even less and less crowded. Now, many might think that's a good thing, but what that really means is more and more soldiers are deployed.

We can say the same in regards to driving in Fayetteville. While the drivers here are still terrible, there are fewer and fewer of them around (although traffic is still annoying).

Right now, all four Brigades of the 82nd Airborne Division from Fort Bragg are deployed. The last time that happened was during World War II. With a normal troop population of over 75,000 soldiers, we're told that as of right now, over 50,000 are deployed. Wow.

While driving around post today was easy and there were no lines at the post gas station (usually three-four cars deep for a 20+ pumps), we'd rather have more soliders around than to see our ghost town.

The only place on post that seems to be thriving is the Army hospital where there are still around 300 births a month-hmmm.
