Driving Lessons

Madison and Luke's little friend, Kate, met them at the park early Saturday(because they all got up early!) for a playdate. "Baby Kate" as Madison calls her is adored by my kids. After awhile at the park, Luke started to walk home (the park sits behind our fence), so the rest of us followed. The kids ended up pulling out all of the bikes and cars for a few minutes, and Madison took the opportunity to give "Baby Kate" some driving lessons.

Sweet girls...for being over two years apart, these girls really like to be around each other. It's so nice to see how sweet and gentle Madison is with Kate. You can tell Madison knows Kate is younger than Luke, and she's very careful with her.

Kate really enjoyed her ride, and I think a Barbie Jeep of her own may be in the distant future. Right now, Kate has a Dora Jeep just like the one Madison and Luke have that she is trying to learn how to drive.

Madison talked to Kate the whole time, almost like she was explaining what was going on.

Heather, Kate's mom, walked/ran alongside of the Jeep for the first couple of laps up and down the street, but quickly saw that Kate really enjoyed riding along. Madison started out driving slowly, being careful, and then got a little faster and more daring. Kate didn't mind.

Madison has been really sweet with Kate in other areas. She got a big-girl dollhouse for Christmas, and since finding out we were having another boy, she gave her baby dollhouse (meant for ages 1-3) to Kate. She actually came up with the idea on her own at Christmas. When she setup her new dollhouse, she said, "We could give my baby dollhouse to Baby Kate," to which I replied, "Let's see if we're going to have a Baby Lauren (our girl name)." Then, when I told her she was getting a "Baby Alex," she said, "Can we give Baby Kate the baby dollhouse?" Heather picked up the dollhouse, along with a ton of 24 month and 3T girl clothing this weekend for Baby Kate to enjoy :)

Too cute! She is such a good big sister, looks like she is ready for Alex.
