Daddy celebrated his 29th birthday on Monday, Christmas Eve. We were at Grandma and Grandpa's house for the weekend, and Monday after lunch, we came back home. So, Daddy had a small birthday party in Wilmington, and then we had a family afternoon and evening on Christmas Eve. Our family tradition on Christmas Eve is to go to church and then to Texas Roadhouse. Many would say it's weird to go out to eat on Christmas Eve, but it is Daddy's birthday, and he can't help that it's the day before Christmas! And actually, between arriving home from Grandma and Grandpa's house and going to church/dinner, Daddy had to go round on his patients at the hospital. We guess people still need medical care even if it's your birthday.

Daddy blowing out ALL of the candles on his cake...well, Mommy can't say too much because she's older than Daddy. Luke loved the candles (actually, he probably loved the heat radiating from the candles-this boy likes to be warm).
Luke was also really worried he wouldn't get any cake. He's never been allowed to try it.
Yea! Luke tried cake for the first time! He really liked it too. Each year, Mommy makes Daddy's favorite cake, red velvet. Daddy's not much of a cake person, but he loves red velvet. Plus, it being red puts it right in the spirit of Christmas.
Ironically, Madison the cake addict wasn't a big fan of red velvet. She's so picky; she'll probably love it next year.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY! We hope you had a great day. Next year on your birthday, there's no telling where in the world the Army will have us living and celebrating it.
