The Little Mermaid at the YPG Pool

We celebrated Madison's fourth birthday party a couple of weeks early because Alexander is due to have his birthday in a couple of weeks too :) Her actual birthday is June 8, but she didn't seem to mind the early party. With a beautiful day (really, when isn't it beautiful here??), and temps right around 105, Madison had a great time celebrating her birthday with a Little Mermaid pool party.

The nicest amenity on YPG (Yuma Proving Ground) is the pool. They have been working really hard over the "winter" to continue their renovations of the pool. The pool itself is awesome, and the grounds are still being improved. Overall, we all agreed it was a great birthday party at the pool.
Madison helped me get things ready the night before. Here, she's stuffing the boy treat bags...we couldn't give all the boys the Little Mermaid stuff, so we found some pirate bags for them.
The balloons were her favorite. The huge heart with Ariel on it is pretty obnoxious...all the other heart princesses are attached to it. I was somewhat embarrassed carrying it out of Party City!
Here she is...our birthday girl! She's all decked out in her Little Mermaid pool cover-up and flip flops.
Oh, and we can't forget the Little Mermaid hair bow!
Here's the pool...
They have a tiki-type theme at the pool with the covered areas and such.
View towards the kids' water area
Part of the kids' area...in addition to the water, there is also a full playground here.
Food!
More food...but it was just about totally DEVOURED!
I decided to order a six-foot sub from Subway for the party. I guess it was a big hit, as there wasn't a single piece left!
Luke wasn't shy to get a plate of food. He's sitting with his pal, Cassidy. She's in his preschool class.
Madison under the water sprayer
The water guns are new additions to the pool this year and obviously a BIG hit! Luke loved playing with it.
Madison and her pal, Caroline, took a turn.
Nathan...luckily, there are several water guns so they can "shoot" each other.
Kurt and "Baby Kate" (Madison still calls her this) tried to stay out of the line of fire.
Baby Kate resorted to the water with her mom, Heather.
My boys
Lots of fun in an 82 degree pool. Our pool is not heated, only solar heated :) Opening season in April, the pool was a brisk 65, but it's warmed up pretty quickly.
Madison really enjoyed her day.
Edward loves throwing the kids up in the air (and they love it too). Here goes Luke.
Down
Again
Luke had a blast on this float brought by our neighbors, the Chonkos. I think we'll have to be on the lookout for one of these!
Hmm, how does this thing work?
Sara had Gabriella in the pool for the first time...
...and, she fell asleep!
After the food was devoured, it was time for cake. I'm trying to keep the masses from attacking the cake (no kidding!).
Princess Cake
Luke really wanted to help Madison.
She did just fine on her own.
Okay, so the hat...Madison and I were at Party City getting supplies, and she saw this hat down the aisle. I could see it, but from a distance, had no idea what the hat said. She came back wearing it, declaring she wanted to get it..."All Hail the Birthday Princess." It's like she can already read or something.
Luke didn't miss dessert.
Cooper and his mom, Sarah.
Caroline and Madison are good buddies at church (Caroline's brother is Cooper above). They always want to sit next to each other and do the same things. It's so cute.
Cake is good.
This wasn't even five minutes into a half sheet cake...no, there wasn't a piece left!
Samantha...she and Madison are in preschool together, and they'll go to kindergarten here on post together. It's nice they'll be here that long, as on military bases, kids' friends move often. Samantha and her family got here a month before we did, so they'll leave when we do too.
Here we are!
Baby Kate and her cake
Silly Madison and Samantha in the sprinklers
Presents! Big hit with all the kids!!!
Enough watching...Luke decided to help.
The boys, all in Madison's class, decided enough was enough...
They wanted to help too! Aiden, on the left, has the same birthday as Madison, but he's a year older. Gabriel, red shirt, and a very sweet friend to Madison, was so proud of the present he picked out for Madison...a Barbie pool and Barbie and Ken...good shopper!
Ariel stuff!
Fishing
No, this isn't out of order...her second round of cake!
Delicious!

The end to a very fun day...these girls must have moms who shop together :)

Thanks for coming everyone! We came home with a VERY HAPPY little girl. Thank you for making her fourth birthday such a great event.
