Yuma MCAS Air Show

Saturday, after our post Easter Egg hunt, we went into town to the Marine Base's Air Show. This is an annual event; we went last year too. The hospital is one of the sponsors of the event, and with that, they give out free VIP tickets to the doctors and staff. Since Edward works in the ER there, we have been able to get tickets each year. The VIP tickets include sitting in their tented area and eating a catered lunch. It's really good, and the seats are right next to the flightline.

The kids enjoyed the airplanes, and while it wasn't as hot as last year's 95 degrees, it was quite windy. All in all, it was a fun day.

The poles behind Edward and Luke are from the tents. It was so windy all of the tented areas had to remove the tarps. Yeah, so much for shade!

C-130. The kids know this plane type very well. The Freefall School jumps out of these everyday. For some reason, Madison got stuck on the idea that Uncle Clay (my brother) was flying around Afghanistan in a "pirate plane" like this. Note the pirate flag they stuck on top of the plane. She kept asking if he had a pirate flag on his plane, so yeah, of course he does :) Clay, if you get to read this, remember to tell Madison you had a pirate flag on the airplanes in Afghanistan!

Some people have WAY too much time on their hands...this is a Fire Bus. People rigged this up so that it runs on a jet engine (see the back of the bus). It was really awesome to watch, and the fire coming out was amazing (and very hot!!).

It drove up and down the runway blasting fire...very cool!
