Finally!

2630 miles later...the Jetta arrived via auto transport. We've had one car for a month, which has made it a little tricky to get things done. Edward takes the car all day to go to work, leaving the kids and me home without any transportation. 115 degree weather doesn't bode well for walks around post, but there have been times we've had no choice. After going through three different auto transport brokers (what a nightmare!!!), the car was finally picked up Saturday in Tennessee and delivered tonight. It was supposed to arrive the day after we arrived here in Arizona. While we did extensive research, it didn't seem to matter, but we are really grateful to the driver who did pick it up and deliver it; what a blessing he was!

Thanks to Edward's parents for keeping his car at their house and meeting up with the auto transport driver to pick it up.

The car isn't without incident...it has a dead battery and not just from sitting; the battery is just shot. So, after getting the car at the Interstate (a.k.a. freeway since we are a mile from California, and everything there is called a freeway) at 7:00 tonight, we ventured over to Wal-Mart where I waited in the parking lot with the kids and both cars running (his wouldn't start if we turned it off and well mine, kids were in it, and it was 101 degrees!) while Edward went in search of a battery. Now, he'll just have to put it in tomorrow.

And in more car news...

My windshield had a HUGE rock hit it, and over a couple of days the heat really expanded the crack so that there was a bullseye with then about a 15 inch line going in two directions. I tried to take a picture, but because of the angle and the sun, this is the best I could do:

Jenn, my college roommate, this picture is for you :) The crack is in the dead center (it's a circle), and the line spans the width of the whole picture. I love USAA, as they came out yesterday afternoon and replaced the windshield in my driveway while in 109 degree heat...yes, I took them bottled water (because we can't drink the tap water!). The tech even saved my Department of Defense car decal (the sticker that lets me get on base) and were able to reapply it to the new windshield).
