More House Pictures

Several people have asked about the layout etc. of our house, and while I've posted several pictures of the kids' rooms, I wanted to update with some new house pictures. We purchased two 8x10 area rugs for the living room and family room areas. Plus, we've now hung all of our pictures! All the moving boxes are out; it feels so good to have everything in its place.

Family room, a.k.a. the kids' playroom...good luck getting this room without toys out. That's okay though, because that's what the space is for. We used to have a large cherry coffee table, but it recently made its last move. Yup, the movers did it in, and it's a goner. I'd had that coffee table for over 10 years, and we still liked it because it had a huge drawer for storage. Now, though, the kids have a big open area to play, so it's nice for them. Rug is one of the new ones, and the window treatments are actually from NC. It's really hard to find treatments for the type of windows we have (Lori, I'm sure you'll agree about that with your military housing and the necessity of rugs on the tile!).

Okay, this is a different part of the house...standing next to the front door. We have a really long hallway back to the bedrooms. To the left would be the kitchen and play area in the above pictures. Notice the gate...our gated community has returned in full force. The gate is blocking access to the back bedroom, Madison's bedroom. Luke is obsessed with her room!!! He will stay in there and trash it all day. He jumps on the bed and makes a huge mess. Something tells me it won't be the last time she doesn't want him in her room. Now, heading down the hallway...

This living room is just off that hallway and also has open access between the couches to the formal dining room and front door. The other new area rug is here.

Standing in the dining room, which is to the right of the front door.

Going down the long hallway...this is the only bedroom on the right side (the wall backs up against the living room wall). This is our master bedroom. We do now have our treadmill in our bedroom, which is a change, but we have yet to use it here. The movers actually sliced the electrical cord to the machine, and it can't be used. It's on our claim we filed with the moving company, but surprise, surprised, we have yet to hear anything. So our new treadmill (got it before we moved) just sits...

The closed door with the mirror goes into the master bathroom. Most doors remain closed here, which I don't really like, but a certain little boy is obsessed with putting his hands in the toilet...if you know of this little boy, you know what a handful he is :)

Looking out toward the hallway...walk-in closet is visible. Across the hall from our bedroom you can see two doors. The door on the left goes into the kids' bathroom, and the door directly across from our room is Luke's room.

Rooms on the left side of the hallway...first room, just across from the living room, is the guest room/office.

Kids' bathroom and guest bath, which is huge! Through the door at the back there is the tub area. The toilet is just to the left of where I'm standing.

Part of the garage...it's a two-car garage, but it's really short and narrow. As soon as the movers take care of our damage claim, we'll put the van in here and leave this side of the garage for the kids' stuff. It might look messy, but it's actually organized pretty well as the "parking lot" for their ride-on toys. Right now, the kids's stuff is here, and the damaged-beyond-repair stuff is on the other side (where my car would go). Most of the damaged stuff will go to the dumpster after they hopefully pay our claim. We never thought we'd have a "mancave" area like we did at our NC house, but we have one here! Edward put up the pegboard last weekend, and then his mancave goes back between the pegboard and the fridge...speaking of the fridge, that's our nice black one from our NC kitchen. The new owners didn't want it, even though it went with the kitchen, so now, we probably have the nicest back fridge ever! We had thought about putting in our kitchen and switching out the Army one, but our fridge is too tall and big. We were a little bummed because we liked the water dispenser in the door, until we found out we can't drink the water here, so it actually works out fine in the garage.

Outside to the front door...we really like this about living on post. It's easy to figure out where people live. Ft. Bragg had done away with this for the most part, so we like that they still do it here.

I LOVE these flowers (they are REALLY tall too)! This is our front walkway from the front door to the garage. I see these out of my kitchen window everyday. Edward said he saw doves living under the flowers too. I don't know my desert plants yet to know what this is even called. Madison, whose favorite color is orange-sounds like a future Clemson Tiger!-loves the flowers too.

Side of our house...Mom, you asked how tall our cactus is...as you can see it's taller than the house. We think it's around 15 ft. Madison LOVES this too. The windows are of the living room, master bathroom, and master bedroom. And, the ground is rock. Just beyond our cactus is the community park area, where as it gets cooler, we'll spend most of our days.
