This past weekend, we drove up to Phoenix, or more specifically Scottsdale, for a couple of reasons. First, Edward had to do another more of his life support recertifications (BLS and ACLS). Secondly, and on the more enjoyable side, we got to meet up with some dear friends of ours from the medical school days in Florida. Our very dear friends, Nate and Kerri, were going to be in Phoenix for a medical conference for Nate. About a month ago, we setup this weekend get-together. They were our very close friends in Florida, and Kerri and I weathered hurricanes and two years of the guys being gone constantly for medical rotations out of state. We did Bible Studies together, and we were all part of a small group of us that hung out a lot together. We both worked full-time and got our master's degree while there. Just all around, we were great friends. The last time we saw them was the end of May 2005 at med school graduation in Florida, just a few short days before I had Madison. Oh how our lives have changed! Three kids later for us, we got to see them with their first baby on the way. The Army has moved us around, and Nate and Kerri, after some moving themselves, are living in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was really great to get together with them, and in some ways, I think it made us all miss each other that much more!
Alex hung out in his stroller most of the afternoon, enjoying the beautiful weather.
"Is there a doctor around?" Yes, there are two actually, even though they appear to be minor league ball players. These two were known, on occassion, to skip the boring medical school class to play wiffle ball, fish, or play frisbee. Now, they are both family practice guys.
The kids had a lot of fun at the "train park" in Scottsdale. It's a really neat place, and I found it last year when we were there for another recertification for Edward.
There's an actual little train you can ride around. We're waiting in line.

After a full day of hanging out together, we had to say good-bye. We had SUCH a good time and must get together before another five years passes!

Looks like a lot of fun. I love the picture of the kids running.
That's funny! We have been hanging out with Dennis and Pearl Park for the past two weeks. Dennis is deploying from here. John has adopted their little boy Isaiah as his baby brother. I guess since residency schedules are over we can finally see med school friends.
