Today, Daddy began his HALO jumps by jumping three times. HALO, High Altitude Low Open, is the school located at YPG. Daddy takes care of all of the HALO soldiers, making sure they don't hurt themselves when jumping. The plane drops them out, free fall style, at 10,000 feet where they free fall until around 3,000 feet when they begin to open their parachutes. Then, they land beautifully on the ground, as if walking on air. Daddy hadn't jumped since Airborne School at age 20. 10 years later, he felt a little older, but he had no problems with his jumps. He'll continue to jump with the guys, and when he's passed the different qualification rounds, he'll get his HALO wings.
Great job, Daddy! We wish we could have been there to see you and look forward to watching you jump when we get back to Arizona. Be careful out there...you know, you're the only doc there!
