Bravo Company Family Day

Saturday, Bravo Company (our group) had its annual Family Day. One of the nice things about a really small post is an event like this is more of a community picnic. The day was held out on Cox Field, which is the parade ground about 100 yards down the street from our house. We had a relatively cool day, mid 70's, which made it extremely pleasant. The blazing sun did help us all improve our suntans, even with sunscreen.

The day begins with the Freefall guys loading up on helicopters, flying off, and jumping out, all to land on the field. Edward was cleared a couple of months ago to jump with the rest of the group, but at the last minute, he was told that because he has to use a different parachute, he couldn't jump. Because of the wind, even the really skilled instructors who do this as their job had a rough start...they landed all over post (elementary school, commissary, upper housing, etc.), which might not seem like a big deal with a tiny post, but they are used to landing on a dime. After the first lift, things improved so they were landing on their normal X on the field.

and away...the guys should reappear in less than 10 minutes.

Back at the house, Luke took to playing with his baseball glove and new bat. He got the bat out of the prize box at Family Day.

Ball retrieval...he could do this for hours.
