Easter Eggs

Friday morning, the post held its annual Easter Egg hunt. This year, they had it over at the preschool. In years' past, it has been held on our huge open parade ground. Don't ask me why they changed it, but it was still nice for the kids. After that, I had to go to my normal MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meeting held next door to the preschool at the post chapel. My friend, Heather, and I started running the MOPS group here a couple of months ago. We had decided to dye Easter eggs with the kids, which also turned out to be a big hit and a lot of fun.

Hmm, who's manning the medical clinic? Edward and Luke with Colin and Mason. Colin is the PA at the clinic. While the company had the day off (although Edward did make house calls), the others on post didn't. The company makes up about 85% of the post. While Edward is assigned to the company, Colin, the PA, isn't. He is assigned to the med clinic here through Ft. Irwin, California. It's complicated, but they still work together are the only medical personnel for the post.

Off the go...this was really funny. In a matter of 30 seconds, all the eggs were gone.

Madison had her eyes set on the jungle gym, so she took off for it.

Madison really enjoyed hunting eggs. She got very into it and found a ton of them. Most of the shots are of her because the kids were split up by age group. Luke was with the 0-2 year olds, while Madison was with the 3-6 year olds.

We ventured over to find the guys. Luke did really well, and Edward said he loved looking for eggs. His prized possession was a Diego egg. He seriously loves that egg and doesn't want to open it because the Diego wrapper will have to come off.

There were still a bunch of eggs left in the little kid area, so the bigger kids, including Madison, invaded it and cleaned it out. Luke is watching them.

The preschool had a snack out for the kids once they were done hunting eggs. Luke found some of his buddies. He sat down with the Demings to enjoy his snack.

As the kids were eating, the preschool announced the winners of the drawing. We won two things! We never win stuff at these events, so it was kind of funny we won twice. One of our winnings was this bunny.

Our other prize...this Easter basket was full of fishing stuff. There's a rod, tackle box, etc. It wasn't something we got to pick, so it was a perfect, random thing that we won it!

Next door, then, at MOPS, we had our normal lunch potluck and followed it up with dying Easter eggs

Madison had SO much fun and came home with a pink basket full of pink eggs. She wouldn't use any other color and even made pink eggs for her brothers. We put Luke and Alex's name on the eggs, and she refused to dye them in any other color than pink.

Her friend, Samantha, liked the pink too. All the girls really liked the princess sticker packet the egg kit came with. They covered their eggs with princess stickers.

Back at home, the bikes came out. If you notice all of the greenery in the white rocks...that's not supposed to be there for the most part. We do have a few desert plants, but those are all weeds. Our housing was just turned over from the military to a privatized company on April 1. All the bases are going to this. In the last couple of months, the military totally let the base go and didn't care for the grounds. While the new company comes with both good and bad, they are doing a really good job of cleaning up the weeds. As you can see, they haven't gotten to our street, but they've cleaned up a bunch of the post so far.

An afternote...we would like to thank Aunt Mer for our awesome Easter baskets. She bought them for each of us when we were born...sorry, Uncle Harry, but really she got them, so credit goes to her. In fact, Luke's basket was a sore spot...the year he was born, Daddy didn't want to get Luke an Easter basket because he wasn't due until the end of April. Aunt Mer to the rescue-she showed up with his Easter basket, and little Luke was born the day before Easter, three weeks early. He came home on Easter Sunday to a newly prepared Easter basket. Yes, Aunt Mer, we'll be on the lookout for a clearance one after Easter for Alexander!
