Joshua Trees and Gunsmoke

Okay, so I was getting the kids' lunches ready today, and they had been watching some cartoon. Edward was getting his lunch (it's really nice he gets to come home most days!), and I was getting other things together. Neither of us noticed that the cartoon had ended and the old western show, Gunsmoke had started. Now, I have not watched much Gunsmoke, although my parents love the show. The kids became really interested all of a sudden because this cowboy was out walking his horse through the desert. Madison always cries out, "That must be Arizona," whenever she sees desert on tv, and actually, this time it did look like Arizona. Then, the cowboy got stopped by a rattlesnake, so we were telling Madison that we had rattlesnakes around here. Both Edward and I went back to getting lunch ready, and the kids continued to watch Gunsmoke. All of a sudden, Madison yells out, "Look, it's a Joshua Tree!" Sure enough, our little biologist had spotted a Joshua Tree on Gunsmoke, and we had to laugh because we knew where it had to have been filmed. We took a trip to Joshua Tree National Park, near Palm Springs, California back in October, and Madison fell in love with Joshua Trees. They are rather unique, and she spotted it. We also know it's from that area because Joshua Trees are only native to the Mohave Desert, which is where we were. We continued to watch some of the Gunsmoke episode looking for more Joshua Trees. Who would have thought???
