The kids love playing in front of the house. In North Carolina, our house was at the front of the subdivision, and cars moved by the house pretty quickly, so we rarely played out there. Here, the streets are really quiet, and there are speed bumps everywhere, so it's much safer. Plus, the houses on both sides of us and across the street are vacant right now until new soliders move in. Past the kids, you can see a bunch of palm trees. Those line the streets and then at the end of our street, they surround the parade grounds. That's where the soliders jump sometimes. We love to go there and watch them...they jumped this morning in fact and will do so there all week.
"Hey Madison, aren't you going to push me?'

Madison's turn...you also notice all the houses look exactly alike and have stones for a front yard. The only difference in the homes is the number of bedrooms. The layouts are the same, but all the bedrooms are on a long hallway. The more bedrooms, the longer the hallway. Bedrooms range from three to five, depending on your rank and number of kids. We're in a four bedroom. There are two housing areas here on post. We live in "lower housing" which is literally lower at the base of the mountain. "Upper housing" is up the hill/working its way up the mountain. Lower housing is for officers and NCOs (Non-commissioned officers, a.k.a upper enlisted), and upper housing is for more NCOs and other enlisted. Overall, it's maybe a quarter mile between the two housing areas, split in the middle by the health clinic, commissary, chapel, elementary school, and preschool all in a long street together.
